PERSONALIZED BACK TO SCHOOL NOTEBOOKS
Customize plain notebooks with collaged covers tailored to each recipient. Brown paper bags make sturdy covers, and they're free! If you have guests, make sure there are enough scissors to go around.
You'll Need
- brown paper bags
- scrapbooking paper and colored card stock
- glue dots
- pencil
- blank notebooks (such as composition books)
- glue stick
- scissors
Instructions
- Trace a notebook onto a paper bag. Cut out the shape and use a glue stick to adhere it to the front of the notebook.
- Cut shapes from the decorative papers and arrange them on the notebook, adhering them with a glue stick or glue dots.
Tips:
THE 3-D VERSION: To add dimension to your collage, bend up the edges of your shapes before gluing them to the cover. Use this method to create a flower with pop: glue petaled circles in a stack from largest to smallest.
MONOGRAM: Top your cover with simple cutouts of your recipient's initials.

GREETINGS FROM GETTYSBURG RESORT
FROM RICHARD KELLERMAN, Resort Manager
Hello All,
Richard here with some quick updates, first it is HOT outside and I am glad that I need to be inside to write an article as to 'what is happening'. It may not appear that too much is going on right at the moment, as we have been busy the last few weeks as to hosting the big old 4th of July and immediately following the massive Bike Week; however, that does not mean we are not doing anything nor have we stopped.
RESORT NEWS
Currently we are installing a brand new 'Beach' type volleyball court. It is very similar to the one in North Carolina. In fact, we are using the same specs.
Operations, Renovations, Refurbishing, Etc.
Newcomer, Darryl Williams, started his first day on the 4th of July as our Maintenance Team Lead. In just the few short weeks of his arrival he has been working hands-on with just about everything, and even generated a few ideas for even more improvements at the resort. His list keeps growing and he is eager to achieve.
ACTIVITIES
Hello from Activities! We are continuing to have a great time, in spite of the heat of the last few weeks. We have purchased several laser tag guns and the children are having a lot of fun using them at the re-enactment grounds. There are a lot more fun events coming over the next month, so please be sure to come out and take part. We do this for YOU!
July Happenings!
July 7; July 4th Celebration
During the 'Kids in the Kitchen' activity we made Star Spangled Parfaits and they were very refreshing on that hot afternoon. This was also our maiden voyage with our new laser tag guns. Our annual carnival was enjoyed by many, again in spite of the rising mercury.
July 14; Bike Week
Bikes, Bikes everywhere! Gettysburg hosted over 30,000 motorcycles this weekend. Our guests were able to enjoy the Parade of Chrome at the front of the resort and saw a variety of motorcycles that were in the area. We held another horseshoe tournament and they seem to be taking off. Join us for the next one!
July 21; Casino Royale
Our first Casino Royale weekend was a one member put it...'a blast'! We made crafts, launched balloons - and we even had one participant's tag returned the same day! We rounded out the night with our casino royal! There was a scrumptious buffet of goodies and plenty of games that included: Texas hold'em, craps, blackjack, roulette, money wheel and slot machines. Everyone was having a great time - especially those rowdy craps players! Hope to see more of you at this event next year!
July 28; In the Heat of Summer
Our pool games and waterslide were a big hit. We had an inflatable parade around the pool and a lot of water fun! Plus our Flea Market was a success!
August Happenings!
August 4; Barnyard Weekend
Join us for some good ‘ole homegrown fun. Green Meadows Farm will have some critters on hand for you to enjoy, plus lots of games and activities. We will also be having a dinner social that evening...create your own foil packets. Packet options include: chicken, potatoes, corn on the cob etc. It is gonna be a hoot!
August 11; Hawaiian Luau
It is one of our favorites; our annual pig roast! There will be lots of games to enjoy and a special event that the children will be putting together for the dinner. Also this year we have added as the entertainment an island fusion band to give us that tropical mood!
August 18; NFL Warm Up
Are you ready for some football? We are! Join us for some football themed games. Also, dress up in your favorite team's gear for the Ultimate Football Fan Contest.
August 25; Chili Cook Off
Enter your favorite rendition of this dish - it may be the ultimate winner. Bring enough to serve a minimum of 10 people, as this will be a social. Be sure to bring your recipe for your fans to share! And then test yourself in the pepper eating contest!
If you have any ideas or would like to help with upcoming activities, please let Joy know via email at gbractivities@travelresorts.com.

GREETINGS FROM SYCAMORE LODGE
FROM MICHAEL TREMBLAY, Resort Manager
We had another excellent month at Sycamore. Our Fourth of July holiday celebration freedom weekends were fun-filled and all of our guests had a wonderful time. Our annual vacation bible school week was also well attended. Pastor Gene did an outstanding job once again with the kids and the week culminated with a Hot Dog cook-out on the last day. We finished our pool ramp and also finished the landscaping in front of the pool. We are heading into August (dog days of summer) where we are beginning our planning/ recruiting for our annual Haunted Forest weekends in late October. Everyone might not be aware that the Haunted Forest weekend events here at Sycamore are very special events that require a great deal of preparation and numerous volunteers to stage. So we start the process of planning and recruiting in mid-August to prepare for the big event. Anyone that wants to volunteer may do so by contacting our Recreation Director Jenny Massey at Jmassey@travelresorts.com. We look forward to having another outstanding month in August and meeting all of our regular guests along with our newest ones
RESORT NEWS
Operations, Renovations, Refurbishing, Etc.
- The pool ramp along with the landscaping in front of the pool was completed. We look to install the ADA approved Pool lift by the end of the season.
- There are still projects that remain to be done to the pool house and we plan on finishing them in the off-season.
Operations News
The call center was implemented and now offers our guests the opportunity to book a reservation with one of our customer service agents between the hours of 9:00am to 9:00pm seven days a week.
Upcoming Operations, Renovations, Refurbishing, Etc
In the past the tour check-ins were being processed in our general store/registration area. In the coming months there are plans to move all of the tour check-ins at a new proposed sales annex/welcome center that is being planned now. This should relieve at lot of congestion at the general store and also provide a better location to accommodate our tours. I will post updates as to the progress in the upcoming newsletters.
ACTIVITIES
Hello everyone. Another great month has gone by that was filled with great activities and entertainment. Make sure you check our Facebook page for the details of upcoming events. If you haven't done so already add me as your friend so that I can send reminders for all the great fun at the Lodge. The big Haunted Forest event is coming up before you know it! GREETINGS FROM ROCKY FORK RANCH RESORT
FROM MARK SHAMBAUGH, Resort Manager
Howdy from Rocky Fork Ranch: We certainly started out this 4th of July with a BIG BANG! As those of you who were here know we had 70-80 mile per hour winds and lost all our power for several days. The Maintenance and Utilities staff worked after dark to clear roadways, relocate some campers and provide flashlights and candles for what suddenly became a "primitive" camping weekend. The next day the staff used generators to restore water supply and sewer services and maintain some of the refrigeration. Of course much of Ohio was hit with high winds and 100's of thousands lost their electricity so, some folks stayed and weathered out the storm right here at Rocky Fork Ranch. Several campers chipped in and gave a hand by raking up debris and we certainly want to thank them for their help. As the power came back on and the massive cleanup continued through the week, activities were restored and we enjoyed a much better “after the 4th of July” weekend and an even larger turn out this past weekend. We are completely recovered from the storm so, we encourage folks to come on out for some Summer Fun. You may want to take advantage of the free camping or the Cabin Special (3 nights for the price on 2) which runs thru August 30. We look forward to seeing and serving you.
RESORT NEWS
Operations, Renovations, Refurbishing, Etc.
- We are in the process of renovating and upgrading several campsites in the "C" section. You are really going to like what Joe Bradley's Special Project Crew is doing to these sites. They will be wider, longer, and easier to get into and all the utilities will be right where they need to be. One of these sites will become a "Super Site" with the colored and stamped concrete pad, patio area and furnishings.
- The painting contractor has completed the gas fort, a park model, several decks and picnic tables and the back side of the Clubhouse. We will continue with more cabins and the Western Town at the Arena as we freshen and brighten up the Resort.
- Watch for the progress being made as we begin raising the tree canopy on campsites, roads and other corridors throughout the park
- Watch out for Grazing Goats! We are farming out the animal farm goats to help with some Creek Corridor maintenance. It will be interesting to see what they don't eat!! Photos coming soon!
- Our front desk will soon be getting connected to the TRA reservations program. In this new program the membership data is more accessible and automated. These features will speed up both reservations and check in procedures just by making the membership data more readily available.
SPECIALS!
Sunday - Thursday: Rent a cabin or park model for 2 nights and get the 3rd night FREE!
Labor Day Special: Holiday cabin rentals are available for regular price this weekend --1 bedroom cabins

GREETINGS FROM PYMATUNING ADVENTURE RESORT
My how the time flies!!! I cannot believe that July has arrived and it will be soon be August. I have enjoyed meeting so many members and hearing your stories. Please keep them coming and please look me up when you visit the resort. June was the first month that we finally began to see a lot of children and families using the resort. The waterslide area was opened for Memorial Day, we had almost all of the campsites filled, and then Father's Day was a big success.
Resort News
Can you believe it? August already... Your Pymatuning Adventure Resort has exploded with campers this year. Almost all weekends from Father's Day through July were extremely busy. The unusual dry weather has been great for campers and the sunshine has made camping very enjoyable. The pools have been open daily until 10 pm and they seem to be the highlight area for the resort.
The HOT weather was almost unbearable during the 4th of July weekends and week. For all of you that were here before, during, or after 4th of July, thank you for your understanding and patience. We had 2 power failures that occurred and have been resolved. The entire Lake area was affected by the heat and large crowds of tourists. There were several power outages in the immediate area including our resort. You'll be happy to know that Ohio Edison has added 2 larger transformer fuses coming into our resort that will eliminate future power problems. In addition, on Saturday, July 7th, we experienced a major power failure during the 103 degree heat which put 50 campers out of electricity for the remainder of their stay. A transformer burned up and it was 2 days later on Monday morning before we could replace it. Thankfully, we had several campsites available for campers that wanted to stay and they were able to move. Many campers used their generators and many campers did without. Both power failures have been repaired and for the future should be in good shape for extreme use. We have also contacted Ohio Edison for engineering help to determine if there are additional electrical changes required to update our system.
You know that August is the month that most school-age people go back to school. Labor Day will be our last weekend that the waterslide will be opened for this year. From August 13th through September 3rd, we will reduce the slide operation during the weekdays as our use slows down. The outdoor pool will remain open until the water temps go below 72 degrees.
Take advantage of the weekday rental unit special going on for the rest of the summer. From now through October, we are offering a 3 for 2 special in all rental units Sunday through Thursday. The weekends are not included. I have talked with many members about the increased rental unit prices. Although the prices have increased, this special is one way that we can offer reduced rates. Please be sure to ask us about any specials we may be offering when you call us to make your reservations in the future.
By the time you read this, I'm hoping that the new reservation system will be available. The demo version for us to learn how to use it has become available in the office. Keep your eyes and ears open for more information. Also, a new reservation phone number will become available to the membership during non-office hours at the resorts. This will help us in the office to answer the large volume of reservation calls that we have been receiving every day. Again, keep your eyes and ears open for more information regarding that new reservation system.
Please be reminded of the following guidelines when visiting Pymatuning Adventure Resort:
All personal golf carts must be permitted by the office before they can be used on the resort, a $5.00 daily fee and proof of insurance is required. We rent golf carts for $40/day, there are some weekend and weekly rates available. Because of the way our campsites are designed, we ask that all campers use the roadways for walking to and from their sites. Please teach children to avoid cutting through someone else's campsite to get to another area of the resort. In addition, after dark, all bicycles and golf carts without lights must be parked at your site for the remainder of the night. Quiet hours and no golf cart operation hours are 11 pm to 8 am daily. The speed limit at any resort is 5 MPH unless otherwise posted. Please, please, please…. Help us help you be safe. Children are our most important asset. They are playing on their bicycles and walking around the campground and it is most important to keep our speed down for their safety. If you see members or staff speeding or not adhering to these basic guidelines, please come tell us or call us on the phone immediately. We rely on you to help us see these things. Our phone number at the office is 440-293-7744. Our outdoor pool has a lifeguard, but our indoor pool doesn't. If you see horseplay or the pool doesn't seem to be monitored correctly, then please call us.
SPECIALS!
Sunday - Thursday: Rent a cabin or park model for 2 nights and get the 3rd night FREE!
Labor Day Special: Holiday cabin rentals are available for regular price this weekend --1 bedroom cabins
RESORT NEWS
Operations, Renovations, Refurbishing, Etc.
- We opened the top 12 mini golf course holes before 4th of July. We're still working on the bottom 6 holes and will complete the painting on all 18 during August. It's a temporary fix on the minigolf course because we plan to replace it within the next 5 years. The waterslides painting was completed on the exterior.
- A new transformer for campsites 13 through 25 and campsites 101 through 142.
- We have new bounce houses for the kids to enjoy and will continue to make them available throughout the rest of the summer.
- Improvements since July include the power company replacing the transformer fuses with larger fuses to carry the electric load created by the campers.
- Campsite reservations need to be made before you arrive; your site is assigned when you make your reservation. Call us for details. We will winterize the campsites and park-models November 1st through March 1st to avoid frozen water pipes, and to cut expenses on electrical and natural gas costs during low use season.
Operations News
We filled all 25 of the seasonal sites that are available. The members that are participating in the seasonal site program will sign new agreements that begin in January 2012 and will be required to prepay for their entire summer season before March 31st. If you are considering the seasonal site program, the next sites to open up will be site 26 through site 32. The price for the seasonal site program is $1,265. That includes the off season of storage at $45/month to leave it on the same site in a stored condition.
We have recently sent notices to all RV Storage participants with a new storage agreement and pricing. We have identified approximately 19 RV's that do not have current storage agreements or current payments. Some of these have been abandoned. We are continuing the process of applying for abandoned titles and disposing of these units. I don't really expect that anyone reading this would own one of these RV's, but if you think you might, please call us at the office.
You guys are doing a great job of contacting us to make your reservations before you arrive. Remember that we will do our best to assign the site that you request when you call. With our old reservations system and our power outages we were unable to provide correct information as you checked in during the holiday period, but we're back on track now. Remember that the rental unit check out time is noon, and the campsite check out time is 1pm. As long as your campsite isn't reserved on the day you are supposed to check out, you're welcome to stay longer, but please contact the office or host on duty to confirm the check out time at your site.

GREETINGS FROM TWIN LAKES RESORT
FROM WADE MASTERS, Resort Manager
Where has the summer gone? Sometimes the hardest thing to do is find the time to enjoy your summertime. With kids, work and all those other obligations life seems to heap on us it can be hard to get away. But it can also get away from us. Whether you take a day, a weekend, or a week make sure you find the time to enjoy the simple things in life; a walk with loved ones, picnics, a little fishing, or even pitch a tent. Isn't that why we work so hard? We deserve it. If you don't make those plans you will end up missing out on it.
Looking forward to spending time with old friends here!
Come see us,
Wade
RESORT NEWS
Operations, Renovations, Refurbishing, Etc.
We are going through a lot of changes here at Twin Lakes! With that comes some growing pains. We are very fortunate to have new owners that see the potential and truly do feel that members come first. Change may seem too slow for some, and others like it the way it was. But if we can all be a little patient I know the end result will be something we can all be proud of.
Operations News
Our staff here at Twin Lakes is second to none it took some time to get everybody on board, but I think we are finally running on all 8 cylinders. And with the addition of Wade Lehman and his wife Sissy as our new work campers the puzzle is complete. So, when you are here stop in and meet our new crew members.
