TRA Firewood Policy

In keeping with continuing to provide a great outdoor experience for our members and guests, as well as protecting the natural resources on our beautiful resorts, TRA will no longer be allowing members to bring firewood with them when they visit a TRA resort. By now, most Members are familiar with the numerous "Don't Move Firewood - It Bugs Me!" campaigns that are in place in states where we have resorts. Our alliance with these state campaigns is intended to protect our trees and continue to provide our Members with the lush destinations our resorts offer. We have recently discovered damage at one of our resorts from the Emerald Ash Borer, and we wish to be more proactive in protecting our tree resources. Our Members who wish to have campfires, you will be able to purchase firewood at the resort store. Firewood that is sold at the resorts will either come from trees harvested on resort property, or from vendors who deliver certified insect-free packages of bundled wood. For more information on this spreading problem we invite you to visit websites such as www.dontmovefirewood.org or any of the state DNR websites. We appreciate your help and cooperation with helping to prevent the further spread of this problem.

Camping Mac n' Cheese

• 1 1/2 cups elbow macaroni

• 1/2 cup grated sharp cheddar cheese

• 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese

• 1/4 cup mozzarella cheese

• 1/4-1/2 cup half and half or whole milk

Salt & pepper to taste

Step 1: Cook pasta according to package directions. Drain and rinse with cold water..

Step 2: Stir alfredo sauce into the cooked pasta with the three cheeses and enough milk to keep things loosey goosey. This is so your mac and cheese doesn't dry out while it's staying cool. Stir in salt and pepper to taste. Divide between four mini aluminum pie tins (or one big one), sprayed with nonstick cooking spray. Spray one side of aluminum foil with more nonstick cooking spray and cover each individual mac and cheese portion, sprayed side down, facing the food. Seal well. Store in a large plastic food storage bag in a cooler until ready to cook.

Step 3: Prepare a fire and let it burn down to the coals. Place a cooking rack over top that would be 2-3 inches above. Place each pie tin over the hot coals and cook 8-10 minutes or until hot. Remove from fire and serve immediately.

Step 4: **SHORTCUT MAC AND CHEESE DIRECTIONS**You can also just bake these at home in a glass or ceramic baking dish at 350 degree oven for 20-25 minutes or until hot and melted. Easy peasy!

See original recipe here.

Greetings from Gettysburg Resort!!

Resort Operations News

Happy winter from Gettysburg Battlefield Resort, hope you are all staying warm and cozy. Things are slow here at the resort camping wise (although we are averaging 18-25 campers daily), but there is a lot of activity getting thigs ready for spring. While you are hopefully snuggled up in your nice warm homes we are prepping the resort for the upcoming season.

Work continues on the new show cabin, plans are still progressing for the sewer plant, the store is getting a new paint job, Beverly is ordering flower seeds for the gardens, the Arcade room has had a facelift (thanks to the volunteer efforts of Tony and Lois) and the list continues. Thoughts of Spring is in all our heads, and we are excited for the upcoming season, and can't wait to see you all again!

There is much going on behind the scenes as well, Resort Ops has completed the move to upstairs over the Lodge although Lindsay remains behind at her original office, so you will all have easy access to her. A few things have been moved around or added in the Lodge. Cabins are getting a thorough cleaning and some new bits and pieces (from TV's, to blinds, to quilts). While not all of them are getting everything, everyone is getting a little something. Even the Bathrooms are getting a little TLC.

February looks to be a busy month but if you are in the area stop in and say "hi" check out all the changes and let us know what you think. So enjoy the Super bowl, have a Wonderful Valentines and March is just around the corner. See you soon!

Greetings from Sycamore Lodge!

Resort Operations & Activities News

Hey there!

Hope everyone enjoyed the holidays as much as I did. We have a great season in store for 2017. You will find the 2017 Theme Weekend Event Schedule and Band list on Facebook and it looks great. We are trying some new activities/bands and bringing back some favorites.

We are making great progress on the new sewer system. The drain field and first lift station tank are completed. We are in process of constructing the pump house and clearing trees and such for the plumbing and electrical lines.

The new wifi system is near completion and already in use over much of the resort. We are currently running at the same speed as before but with better coverage. Negotiations are nearly complete for bringing a high speed system into the resort as well.

We will be completing more work at the lake front and getting started on the drive in movie screen. We are still in negotiations with our local phone company to get high speed internet service to the Resort, as well, and will be busy with that installation too.

During some cold days we refurbished the game room and it looks great. New epoxy finish on the floor and carpet in the TV area. We also painted the walls and ceiling while replacing the old lighting with LED energy saving can lights..

The crew has also been busy with some much needed site leveling and clearing some of those prickly holly bushes from the high traffic areas.

We hit the ground running in 2017 and hope you enjoy the changes and renovations you will find on your next visit. We look forward to seeing everyone soon and the warm weather will be here before you know it.

The crew has also been busy with some much needed site leveling and clearing some of those prickly holly bushes from the high traffic areas.

Please remember that your pets must always be on a leash or tie out without exception. We also need to be aware of some basic guidelines such as not speeding, having a light on your bike for night riding and not tying objects to trees. These are in place for you and your guest's safety. I encourage all to pick up the guideline sheet at the store.

As always, it is our most sincere hope that you enjoy your stay at Sycamore Lodge Resort! Sit back, relax and get your camp on! See you all very soon. Take care!

Greetings from Wally World Resort!

Resort Operations & Activities News

Hello from Wally World,

We are down to about 50 days to Spring!!! How exciting is that. Camping season will be right around the corner.

The repairs and painting in the bath/shower house is complete. We have also added additional hooks in the men's shower and new shower curtains. It all looks very fresh and inviting. I have taken on painting the activity office to make it fresh and inviting for a new activity director. The next project is a jigsaw puzzle area with puzzle tables. I think this will get a lot of use and folks will enjoy it.

I want to give an update on wifi. Even though I do not have an exact date, just this week they came and marked where they will be bringing the line across the parking lot and into the building. I believe it is close. The sewer project will be moving forward this year. I was in a meeting with the engineer and some ODNR folks last week. Believe me when I say, it's a process. Capital projects will also consist of moving forward with the electric project, and also a renovation to the pool area. This is all exciting stuff and we look forward to getting started.

The member build project has been selected for this year and it is "Building a dog park”" I know this will be popular with you members that bring your fur babies camping. I will let you know the date for the build as soon as it is available.

The activity guide went to print and should be posted on our website any day now. Keep watching. I will also post on Facebook when I see it available for viewing.

We have availability in the rental cabin. If you need a getaway, give us a call.

I am going to get back to painting! Stay warm. Happy Valentine's Day!

 Greetings from Rocky Fork Ranch!

Resort Operations News

Howdy Folks!

We are certainly enjoying a typical Ohio winter. As they say, if you don't like the weather, wait a day and it'll change. This couldn't be truer this season; we have enjoyed snow storms, torrential rain, and sunny days in the 60's. Yet, it makes little difference what the temperature outside is when you are snuggled up with a loved one enjoying the fire in one of our Captain's Circle or our nicely remolded Honeymoon Cabin. Taking some time to relax and watch the deer is just the remedy to recharge your batteries this winter. So make your reservation soon and come on out to enjoy the peace and quiet of the Ranch during the winter season, it's not unusual to enjoy the indoor pool and hot tub all by yourself.

Our maintenance team is staying busy as ever making improvements to the Ranch this winter. Ron Whitcher is continuing to emplace the wireless internet directional nodes to get wireless internet throughout the resort. Kevin and Dan, our projects and construction team is working hard in the cabins. They have completed the 7th hardwood floor installation and will complete cabin U19H by March 1st. U19H is a choice cabin that is the closest cabin to the club house and has wide hallways and doorways, as well as, a handicap friendly bathroom. Lil'John and the rest of the maintenance team are staying busy refinishing furniture that gets pretty dinged up throughout the season and doing the daily maintenance requirements such as plowing the roads and spreading the grit and salt mixture to keep our roads snow free.

The housekeeping team is busy deep cleaning the cabins, shampooing rugs and carpets, and getting all those hard to reach places to ensure you check into a fresh and clean cabin. Our front desk is working on a Welcome Booklet that will be placed in each cabin. In the booklet will be nearby attractions, important phone numbers, the member guidelines, and other useful information to make your stay as comfortable and relaxing as possible. As we continue to work hard this winter, you can rest assured that the Ranch will be in great shape when you return this spring.

Safe travels and happy camping!

Randy Revell, Resort Manager

Greeting from the Recreation Department at Rocky Fork Ranch, it has been a busy month of scheduling the 2017 calendar. To start the year off right, we have posted all of our themed weekend for 2017 in the events link on our Rocky Fork Facebook page. Be sure to take a look at this link because there is a lot going only and is always being updated. For our first themed weekend of the year we will be having our annual Valentine's Day event. During this event, we will be hosting a romantic dinner in the clubhouse. The dinner will include a salad, main course of chicken parmesan, dessert, and a glass of wine. This dinner is $10.00 and reservations are required. Reservations and prepayment for this event need to be made before 11:00am on Saturday February 11 at the Captain's Club. Other activities that will be happening this weekend will include a kids craft, adult craft, and a movie on Saturday night along with the "Not so newlywed game". This will be the only event in the month of February and then we will move into the full swing of themed weekends in March. We here in the Recreation Department, hope to see you soon here at the Ranch.

Greetings from Pymatuning Adventure Resort!

Resort Operations & Activities News

Well, is it spring or is it winter? Last week we hit 65 degrees and then the last week of January it snowed like a blizzard. Mother Nature can't seem to make up her mind. I'm willing to try and make us reservations for sunshine and 75. She hasn't stopped us from working though! We are super excited for our new game room this summer; the kids are going to be so ecstatic! We also gave our Library a face lift and we would like to remind all our campers to check it out! Bring a book, leave a book policy. Our wonderful Librarian Joan, also does story times for the little ones during the summer.

Maintenance has been hard at work; I haven't seen them sit down once this winter. They've been mending to small repairs, our sewage plant, cabins, club house, adult lounge, store, grounds and more! I can't believe the amount of work they have got done since November.

We're very excited to welcome Sharrie Yarber as our new Manager!! We're putting together a great team this year to make sure you have the best experience yet at Pymatuning. We want to strive to move forward and give you all the experience you deserve while camping!!

As always we would like to thank all our campers for their loyalty and cooperation as we move forward with our park. Your feedback and involvement are valued and we look forward to making our park a special place in your hearts. Stay warm and just think, we'll be mowing the grass soon!

Greetings from Bass Lake Resort!

Resort Operations & Activities News

Okay everyone!!!! We're on camping countdown: 60 days until April 1st. In April the ground un-thaws and we start opening things back up. If you prefer to think about camping in terms of weekends, you can start your countdown at 14 more weekends until camping season begins.

It's been a Winter Wonderland at Bass Lake since early November. We've had snow, ice, melting, and more snow. Your Maint team has been working on several little projects both inside and out. The Lower Clubhouse has a new improved activity counter and also the broken sliding glass door was replaced with a beautiful large picture window. We've (Dan and Carl) started on one of the cabins with new windows and have also been keeping the roads plowed and gritted for the cabin users and snowmobilers that have visited in January.

It looks like February will be another cold and snowy month. So far, we've seen some breaks in extreme cold weather but we all know that Feb and March are still winter months. Call us before you come out for snowmobiling or ice fishing to check weather conditions.

Don't forget that the Bass Lake phone number changed last year. Please make the changes in your cell phones while you have a chance. The phone number is: 315-728-9437. We look forward to hearing from you. As always, if you have a question, don't hesitate to call us.

Stay warm and safe, see you soon.

Greetings from Luna Sands Resort!

Resort Operations & Activities News

Hello to all our TRA members from Luna Sands!

Luna Sands is enjoying a warmer winter and because of our location is entering into the "busy season" of the year. As the newest TRA addition, there's a lot of information to share.

Because the Luna Sands reservation is still a work in progress, please continue to call the member services department to make all reservations. That number is 855-332-9541. Please have your TRA number ready when you call and also the arrival and departure dates of the reservation you want to make. Remember that this February and March are the two busiest months at the resort and we may not be able to accommodate the exact dates of your request. Have several choices of dates available for the agent so we can help you make your reservation.

During February, Luna Sands is close enough to Daytona that we host the Race Week campers that come for the Speedway races in Daytona. Although the "Race" week begins on February 17th and ends on the 26th, many campers arrive for the "pre-race" week on February 10th. We expect that all our campsites will be filled from February 10th until February 26th. Our daily activities on the resort revolve around the members coming and going to the Speedway during their stay.

Immediately following February 26th, Bike Week begins. Although the main bike week in Daytona is from March 10th through March 19th, that is really 2 full weekends of a full resort here at Luna Sands. This very popular event brings members together from all over the country, and they plan a full 2 week vacation right here at Luna Sands to take advantage of the beautiful weather in Florida. Next year, be prepared to make your reservations for February and March at least 60 days in advance to get your reservations for these months.

We have been updating facilities since August. An old mobile home was updated and modified to create a new smaller clubhouse for the majority of our events. The existing Recreation Hall was modified and the kitchen facility updated. The signage on and off the resort is slowly changing from Clark Family Campground to Luna Sands Resort. A couple of campsites have been modified and the permits to add sewer to existing campsites have been approved. In addition, the majority of operating permits have been changed over into the Luna Sands name. We're still cleaning up after Hurricane Matthew. This winter at Luna Sands has been very busy.

The permit that was acquired to add sewer to existing campsites is very important to us at Luna Sands. We need to add campsites for our TRA membership and this will allow us to move forward with that project. We expect to "turn" some ground sometime in March/April and get the addition started.

Another project that we started included the clean-up and remodeling of an existing structure that has been vacant for more than 10 years. An integral part of the Luna Sands purchase included the adjacent property that will allow us to expand more campsites. The first project on that property includes remodeling the existing house for our membership sales team to use. We're excited that so many projects are in the works here and can't wait to share them with everyone.

Be sure to "like" us on Facebook so you can follow the activities and other things that we do on a more current basis. We're always posting pictures of fun activities and will post any updates that we can't publish one month ahead in the newsletter. We look forward to meeting you when you visit. Until then, happy camping and warm sunshine regards to you and your family from Luna Sands.

Lizette Bradley, Resort Manager
