EXCITING ANNOUNCEMENT!
Welcome to Ohio! In May of 2011, Travel Resorts of America opened its latest and greatest resort location in beautiful Loudonville, Ohio. The name of the property when we purchased it from the Mikels family was Wally World Camp Resort, which we have renamed as Wally World Riverside Resort. If the curiosity of the origin of the name is driving you nuts, here's the answer. In the early 1900's, the Walhonding (Nicknamed Wally) Railroad was a 43 mile stretch that ran between Loudonville and Coshocton, Ohio. Its original purpose was coal transportation but in its later years it was utilized much more as a passenger rail. The Wally Railroad trek was known as the "most beautiful train ride in Ohio". However, later, when the Muskingum Watershed Conservatory District was formed, several flood-control dams were built in the region as part of a master plan. In building the Mohican Dam, the Wally Line was essentially split in half and the line was considered useless. Therefore the former railroad was converted to a road becoming Wally Road, which runs adjacent to the Mohican River and leads you straight to our new property. The addition of World to Wally, came into play as you might have guessed, after the movie National Lampoon's Vacation, starring Chevy Chase, came out in the 1980's. (The Griswold's)
As you drive down the 5 mile stretch on Wally Road through the forest and travel next to the Mohican River, you'll see and understand why this area is a huge playground for big kids like us, as well as young kids too! The area is called “Ohio's Largest Outdoor Complex” and is a great place to visit. There is so much to do and see in the area, from canoeing, boating, fishing, hiking, the Tree Frog zip line, mini-golf to go-carts and so much more. It's crazy fun! We own 26 acres of riverfront property and although we have some love to give the resort still, we anticipate Wally World to be a stellar 5-diamond property in the very near future and undoubtedly be the "Jewel of the Mohican"! We are super happy to be in the Buckeye State and would love for you to visit us soon.
To make reservations, please use our toll-free reservation system at 1-800-370-1645.
Some member levels will have free access to the resort and some will have to go through Coast to Coast. Contact us with any questions and we hope to see you at one of our beautiful Travel Resorts of America properties in the near future!
Don't forget, in order to grow the TRA network and continue moving forward with new amenities and member benefits at all of our resorts, your respective TRA sales teams have to market and sell new memberships. Help us by promoting TRA when visiting our resorts and remember if you send a new member in for a visit and they purchase a Deluxe Membership or above, we will pay you $500.00 through our Roscoe Referral Program! Check out the contact information below for member referrals and start earning money now!
Looking forward to seeing you,

Recognizing a Stroke
We have always been told there are three simple ways to recognize if someone may be having a stroke. Recently, they have found a fourth indicator. Below are four questions you should ask:
S - Ask the individual to SMILE.
T - Ask the individual to TALK and speak a simple sentence (coherently), such as 'It is sunny out today'.
R - Ask the individual to RAISE both arms.
If they have trouble with ANY ONE of these, call for emergency assistance immediately.
New indicator of Stroke: The Tongue
Ask the individual to stick out their TONGUE. If they cannot or the tongue goes to one side or another, it is also an indication of a stroke.

What can we say about July other than it was HOT, HOT, HOT!!!!! But that didn’t stop us, we had fun anyway.
There will be several events throughout the year that will require adult, volunteer assistance. The big ones are the Wine & Food Festival and OktoberFest. Help is also needed with the organizing and running of the horseshoe tournament. If you are available and able to assist with any of these projects it would be greatly appreciated, not to mention FUN! Please let Joy know via email at gbractivities@travelresorts.com.
Gettysburg is also looking for consultants with home party plans (Amway, Avon, Pampered Chef, etc) to participate in a consultant’s showcase on September 17th. Please email Joy at gbractivities@travelresorts.com if you are interested in participating.
Recent Happenings!
Fourth of July Weekend. We started July with our Independence Day celebrations. For us, here at Gettysburg, that means the carnival is back. This year it was better than ever with tons of new games and the virtual roller coaster was pretty neat. During this fun filled weekend we also had movies, crafts and hayrides and musical entertainment. We were also visited by our friends Tanner and Scout from Confederate Trails of Gettysburg. They once again provided us with 'pony' rides. The 'boys' were happy to give everyone a lift. There were a few participants for the golf cart decorating contest and parade. Hope to see more participation for Labor Day!
Christmas in July. Wow, Santa sure picked a sweltering day to visit Gettysburg, but we cranked up the AC for him. He visited with all the 'children' and collected their wish lists. Some of the items on those lists - WOW!!! Santa better have the Elves working overtime!
Native American Weekend. The Northern Band of the Cherokee was back with us again. This year featured a discussion on the art of flute making. Of course there were crafts, drumming and a candy dance for the children.
Fear Factor Weekend. We wrapped up July and its heat with Fear Factor. We held our annual competition with several contestants starting...though many did not get past the first station! What is so bad about M&Ms? Maybe the ketchup with them! Our remaining contestants had to complete several physical and eating challenges. In the end there is only one winner and this year it was August Hubbard. Congratulations!

A note from Mary Logue, your new Recreation Director at Wally World. Weekends at Wally World Resort just got a lot more fun!
Hi everybody!
I am excited to have joined the Travel Resorts of America team this summer. I have lived in this beautiful Mohican valley my entire life and seeing the changes that are happening now at this campground is wonderful. Sharing my background of hospitality and outdoor education brings me the greatest joy and I hope everyone who visits here has the treasured memories of a lifetime.
Activities kicked off during Fourth of July Weekend and we got our first laughs during the blindfolded golf cart racing and chocolate pie dodge ball. Plus, every weekend we have hay rides, candy bar bingo, crafts and games. Kids can stay busy with bowling on the lawn, catching critters in the river, and racing horses in the pool.
Check us out on Facebook.
