“February is the border between winter and spring.” ~ Terri Guillemets, "Outlines of joy," 2002
Here at GBR we have several projects underway over the winter! The lodge is getting a fresh coat of paint, cabins are receiving some much-needed TLC, and the pool is in repairs. Seeds have been ordered for Chris to start in the RV center (he grew almost all the flowers you saw in the park last year)!
Work campers are also gearing up for their return this season, and we are excited to see some new as well as old faces. Maybe some of you have heard, we had some staff laid off this winter, including our beloved recreation director, and there will be no funds allocated to activities this season. However, in these tight times, we must all work together. At GBR this is our plan moving forward:
We are getting back to the grass roots of camping: Family Values, Community, and a Safe Place to stay.
We see this as an opportunity, not a loss. If members have experienced the Haunted House in the fall, if you didn’t know, it is fully member built and led. Since this news we have had an enormous out-pouring of support for activities, and members are stepping up to both volunteer time and donate items this season! We hope to truly make Gettysburg a stronger community camping family this year and are committed to positive changes!
Last year our extended summer stay program was so popular, we are again offering it this year! We are currently reviewing applications for this program, so if you are interested in staying with us from April 1st to November 1st, please contact the store as soon as possible, as sites are limited.
As always, we look forward to seeing you! Any questions feel free to reach out to us, and we will see you soon!
The Gettysburg Team!
