“The beautiful spring came, and when Nature resumes her loveliness, the human soul is apt to revive also.” ― Harriet Ann Jacobs
Once again, the park is waking up, stretching its arms, and eager to embrace the new camping season! Spring flowers poke their heads warmed by the sun's face, birds are returning with song, and deer are beginning to shed winter coats. Although the flora and fauna are getting ready for Spring, the staff here at Gettysburg have been busy this winter: the newly painted interior of the Lodge has made the building come to life, new flooring installed for two of the cabins, some much needed replacement of furniture, and a leak in the pool fixed. Much more is in the works for the coming year as we move into warmer weather!
Now, as many of you may have heard, our activities budget has been allocated elsewhere this year, so although there are no themed weekends, we want to reassure folks that Gettysburg is creatively working with members on this! Starting mid-March, and every month thereafter, we will be posting 1 month's activities in advance for member volunteers to sign up. We will also continue to hold events like the monthly craft/yard sale, held on the 4th Saturday of every month, the fishing tournament for Father's Day, and the Confederation of Union Generals talk. Other activities pending participation are Candy Bingo, movie nights, pool games with kids, water aerobics, Karaoke, kickball, dodgeball, and adult crafts. Some new additions we are asking for members to lead are health and wellness, RV 101, Campground Etiquette, knitting/crochet circle, and fireside jam sessions.
Last but not least, we only have a few extended-stay sites left and are currently reviewing applications. If you are interested in staying with us from April 1st to November 1st, please contact the store as soon as possible, as sites are limited.
In closing this month's newsletter, the Gettysburg Team would like to address folks and say that we are doing our best to build a stronger, safer community with family values at the core. We know there may be some disappointment, but this is also an opportunity for members to be more involved with the park. We look forward to what we can build together for the 2025 GBR Camping Season! See you soon!
